Mount Compass – Kitchen Caddy Rollout – HEADS UP on some faulty compostable bags
Have you seen the signs ?
Alexandrina Council, Green Industries SA and FRWA are rolling out a FREE kitchen caddy kit and recycle and green bin stickers to the township areas of Mount Compass (green bin collection areas only) with the aim of increasing the use of green organics bins from 42% to 60% in the next month.
We want Mount Compass residents to use the kitchen caddy and compostable bags liners to capture food waste – any food scraps, plate scrapings or those things that have gone off in the fridge.. When the compostable bag is full tie the top and then put it in the food organics and green bin – the 240L green lid bin. Easy as and then it will go to Peat’s Soils to be composted, diverting this valuable material away from landfill.
And then remember to put the green lid bin out for collection.

These South Aussie kitchen caddies, made by MASTEC and compostable bags, made by Biobag will be delivered to households in the township area of Mount Compass next from Monday 16 November 2020.
UPDATE – 18 November 2020
Some of the compostable bags delivered by FRWA in Mount Compass earlier in the week have been found to be faulty – with a stitch down the middle of bags which prevents it from being opened fully, to be fit within the caddy.
First time in 4 years of working with this SA supplier that this issue has arisen.
The caddy can be used without the compostable bag liner and contents dropped straight into the Food Organics and Green Organics bin ready for collection this week.
Check your compostable bags and let us know if you need another roll dropped off. Speak with Jo at FRWA 8555-7405 or message FRWA privately on Facebook with your address. And we will drop by with another roll of compostable bags.
