TIP OF THE MONTH – FEBRUARY 2020 – ALL FOOD SCRAPS CAN GO IN THE GREEN BIN
All Food Organics and Green Organics (FOGO) can now go in the green organics bin.
FRWA collects all kerbside FOGO to be processed into valuable mulch and compost at Peat Soil’s (mainland) and KIRRC in the new in-vessel composting system on Kangaroo Island.
A kitchen caddy and green compostable bag make it easy to collect all plate scrapings, left overs and those bits of food that you find dried up at the back of the fridge in the kitchen ready for disposal in the FOGO bin – if you tie the bag at the top it will contain any odour or spillage.
Kitchen caddies, compostable bags, compost bins and worm farms are available for purchase from your local Council at 50% discount.
Did you know that pet waste can also go in the green organics bin ? Loose or contained in a compostable bag (bag must be marked as compostable with the green compostable symbol).
