Dog Do Do – How best to dispose of Dog Waste
Dog Do Do or Dog Poo can be a challenge to dispose of correctly.
There are a number of disposal options depending on where the Dog Do Do occurs, ideally home pet waste should be disposed of
- in an in-ground pet poo composter – available from most hardware stores and
- or in a green compostable bag in the green organics bin
When you are out and about with your dog you can
- use a ‘compostable’ bag and take it home to the green organics bin, ensuring it will be processed into compost.
District Council of Yankalilla and now Alexandrina Council have recently moved to change the bags in the outside Dog Bag Dispensers to ‘compostable’ bags which can be disposed of in the home green organics bin. It is important to use a green compostable bag which will be recognised as ‘compostable’ by all FRWA collections staff and our commercial composter.
Remember bags marked ‘biodegradable’ or ‘degradable’ are plastic and will break down into smaller pieces of plastic, they must be disposed of in the General Waste to Landfill bin (red or blue lid) or public litter bins (maroon in colour).
