120L or 140L Non-complying bins being used for Green Waste – Phased Out at end of July 2018
All non-standard/non-complying bins (often 120L or 140L bins) which are being used for GREEN Organics waste are being phased out at the end of July 2018.
The standard GREEN Organics bin for all Councils serviced by FRWA are – 240L Green bodied bins with either a green or slightly lighter green lid.
Non complying bins of varying sizes, often with lids of many different colours or with painted lids and green organics stickers of various types can be easily confused during collections in the dark! This can sometimes mean that contamination of loads within the collection truck occurs, inadvertently.
Options for residents with non-complying bins are to
- purchase a new 240L green bodied and green lidded bin from the Waste and Recycling Depots Goolwa or Strathalbyn – $67
- purchase a new lid (green in colour) and affix to your bin – $16 (please note lids may fit correctly on 120L bins – most of these bins were distributed in the Strathalbyn area 20+ years ago and spare parts are no longer available for these bins).
Non-complying GREEN organics bins will NOT be collected after 31 July 2018.
