ChemClear® is a not for profit chemical collection and disposal service for users of agvet chemicals at the end of their life cycle, or when they become surplus.
The ChemClear® program is a widely recognised program that manages the risks associated with obsolete agvet chemicals. The program provides a safe, effective and convenient path for users to dispose of their unwanted agvet chemicals. The ChemClear® program is well established and is an excellent example of industry self-regulation through extended producer responsibility and product stewardship in action. A levy is paid by participating agvet chemical manufacturers which funds both the ChemClear and drumMUSTER programs nationally
ChemClear® collects from any person holding unwanted agvet chemicals, these persons are largely primary producers but can be farming corporations, ag-businesses, wineries, golf courses, Councils, Government agencies and chemical distribution stores etc.
There are two classifications of chemicals ChemClear® collects. They are:
Group 1 chemicals are collected free of charge under the program, these chemicals are currently registered agvet chemicals manufactured by companies participating in the scheme. Please see a list of Manufacturers participating on the Chemclear website at www.chemclear.org.au
Group 2 chemicals are those chemicals that are no longer registered, unknown, unlabelled, out of date, or mixed agvet chemicals. A fee applies for disposal unless a state government subsidy is in place. Once these chemicals are registered ChemClear provides a quote for disposal of same. This quote can be accepted or declined by the waste holder.
