Middleton – BinSpring Trial on General Waste Bins – starts 27 September 2017
The Fleurieu Regional Waste Authority (FRWA), in partnership with Alexandrina Council and BinSpring are conducting a trial of the BinSpring Premium product in selected streets within Middleton during the months of October, November and December 2017.
Residents involved in the trial have been notified by direct mail.
The Bin Spring is a simple, stainless steel spring that will hold the bin lid closed in windy conditions to reduce the likelihood of waste escaping from the bin. The trial is being conducted in Middleton due to the exposure to high wind and occasional extreme weather conditions experienced during the spring and early summer period.
The Bin Spring is attached to the bin handle and secured with a cable tie, the spring clip holds the bin lid closed, even if the bin is blown or tipped over (in most cases).
The stainless steel Bin Spring is designed and manufactured in Australia.
As part of the trial, the impact of the Bin Springs on our kerbside collection services will be measured, with the primary aim to reduce waste escaping from bins.
BinSprings will be fitted to general waste bins on Wednesday 27 September 2017 and collections will be monitored every fortnight for three (3) months.
Final week for monitoring the BinSpring fitted to your bin will be next week – the Binspring is yours to keep. An online survey will be posted to this website in mid January 2018 and appear based copy of the survey will be mailed to residents involved in the BinSprings trial to provide feedback.
